Traditional spicy Italian salame originating from Calabria region, in the South of Italy. The distinctive bright red colour is given by the red hot chilli pepper. The fennel seeds add sweetness and balance to the bouquet. 
Schiacciata is perfect to add some spiciness to pasta recipes and pizza, or enjoyed as it is on a cold cut platter. 
Its characteristic flat shape is due to the fact that in some areas of Italy, where the climate is particularly warm and dry, the maturation process of large diameter salami could be difficult. For this reason, local producers decided to pree the salami and make its diameter smaller to help the aging process.
