100% Italian tomatoes
For the product of their tomato pulp, Steriltom uses 100% Italian tomatoes only, all grown in the North of Italy. Most of the fresh tomatoes come from Emilia Romagna, a beautiful region in the Centre-Northern part of Italy also called “Italian Food Valley” because of its extraordinary culinary traditions appreciated all over the world, and 85% of Steriltom tomatoes are grown within a radius of 25km from the factory, in the heart of Piacenza province. This translates into:
  • Shorter road transport, which has a positive impact both on the freshness of the raw material and the on the environment, with lower emissions of CO2;
  • Incredible freshness of the product, because tomatoes are harvested right before being processed.
A real farm-to-table process based on the respect for the environment and the superior quality of the final product.
Sustainability
Innovation and sustainability have been for years at the heart of the philosophy at Steriltom, that lives the territory in which it produces and it preserves its environment and people. All Steriltom affiliated farmers have to follow strict integrated production rules promoted by Emilia Romagna region (the most strict disciplinary in Europe), which include:
  • crop rotation;
  • no soil erosion, thanks to the right balance of nitrogen;
  • ban on the use of fumigant and dangerous chemical substances;
  • soil analysis;
  • use of smart drip irrigation to save water and control the soil moisture;
  • respect of the biodiversity and the environment in general.
